[GUIDE] Helper Example
« on: May 14, 2020, 08:25:28 pm »
1) Basic Information -

Minecraft Username:
My current Minecraft username is LmaoYes. I have changed my name many times in the past. I like to get a lot of variety, and quickly get bored. I change my Minecraft skin a lot as well, along with my discord profile picture. Something about changing is fun.

Previous Minecraft usernames:
My previous Minecraft names here are listed from newest to oldest, with "Lmaoyes" being my current name: LmaoYes, NotAright, rdv5, ilyDubba, CqntResist, GamingSpyder80, FBI_1125. The name FBI_1125 was my first Minecraft username. Looking back at it originally I wished I had made into something much more "OG" seeing as it was years ago, and many names were open back then compared to now. However, I am happy with where I ended up, as I most likely would have changed it anyways.

Timezone:
I am currently living in Canada. My timezone is MST (Mountain Standard Time). However, my timezone will be changing when I move to the Netherlands. I'll explain this more later on.

Age (Note: You must be 13 or over to apply):
I am currently 16 years of age. I find myself to be more mature than most and have been put into leadership positions many times in my life. I have been a cadet and owned many Minecraft server. I'll get more in-depth on my past history with moderation later on in the application. When I was younger, I dreamed and fantasized over being staff on a Minecraft server. I still hold those dreams closely, and still want to achieve them. I hope to become a staff member here to check that off the bucket list. I used dream of being a Helper on the Hypixel Network and I must admit, I was disappointed about needing to be 16 to apply, as I believe my maturity would be more than enough to become staff on their server but would be more than honored to put all my efforts that could be spent on the largest server in Minecraft on this warm and welcoming community.

Do you have access to Discord and a working microphone? (yes/no)
Yes, I do have access to discord. I use discord daily and all day. I have owned multiple fairly successful discord servers in my time as well as own my current and biggest discord server "Phantom Velocity" which is currently my larges and most active server. We hold many calls and cool events there. I have made staff applications and lead the staff team on that server counting to moderation experience. And yes, I do have a working microphone. To hear what it sounds like feel free to visit my YouTube channel and check out the latest videos where I use it.

Do you have the ability to record Minecraft videos?
Yes, I do. I use the bandicam screen recorder. And I have the premium edition, meaning my videos don't need to deal with any watermarks or time limits seeing as its premium. I record fairly high-quality videos on my YouTube channel which you can see by going to "NotAright" on YouTube or clicking the YouTube icon under my profile picture on the forums. Therefore, I do believe I have more than high enough quality of recording software to record evidence videos for the higher staff members on the server. I would also love to make some YouTube videos on the server for my channel. And should I be denied, I still would love to make videos on the server with a group of friends. Maybe even apply for YouTube once my channel meets requirements.

Are you multilingual? (Fluent in multiple languages. Not just learning one.)
Unfortunately not. However, I will be able to speak fluent Dutch soon, as I will be moving to the Netherlands. I used to speak French, however, that was years ago, since then I have moved back to an English school, and lost that trait. I will be moving back to the Netherlands to comfort and help my grandma, as she is getting very old. My grandpa died years ago, and since then my grandma has been alone, with only a couple of assistants to help her accomplish daily tasks. But at the moment, I only speak English.

2) How much time do you have to contribute to the role?
I get on Minecraft itself at 2 PM MST and get off around 10 PM. However, I will be able to be on the forums and discord 12 hours a day as a result of mobile devices (Neat right). I carry my phone with me all day and do work/school from home, therefore I can use my PC during work/school hours to work on the forums and help any members in need. My school hours last from the time I wake up (Commonly 10-11 AM) and end at 2 PM (When I get on Minecraft). During the weekends I have until I wake up to the time I sleep (Commonly 12 PM) to play the game and monitor the forums. On Wednesdays, i have one hour less of play-time due to hobbies (swimming). In conclusion, I have 8 hours of playtime during the week, with 12 hours of discord and forum activity time, and 12 hours during the weekend excluding family time and breaks which don't last long and arent set times (They vary)

3) Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, please include details.
No. I try my best to not be punished on any server. I follow the rules on discord servers, Minecraft servers, and overall just follow any guidelines and restrictions placed. I work my best to enforce them regardless of rank and help report any issues to staff any time I can. I have been punished once years ago on Hypixel however. It was a warning for being rude in chat (Not a ban or mute, simply a warning). It was the worst punishment I have ever received, and I had truly felt terrible. Since then I have not been punished, and have never been banned legitimately on IrrationalMC, and I hope to do my very best to enforce the rules place on the server, discord, and forums.

4) SCENARIO: Suppose it's your first week of being a Helper and you mute a well-known player. Their friends start spamming your discord DMs calling you a bad Helper and telling you to unmute them. What would you do?
Unfortunately, regardless of who is punished, the rules still need to be enforced. The first thing I would do is assess the situation. I would check the punished player's history to make sure they have received the correct punishment they deserved. Then I would inform the members who are spamming be that no matter the player, the rules are rules, and cannot/will not change because someone is asking for a difference. Should the players continue to spam me, I would warn them and block them, followed by a warning on the server. if they continued spamming not eh Minecraft server to avoid my block, I would mute them, and direct them to the forums/appeals section in-case they felt the punishment was not just. Should they evade the mute, or continue afterward, I would contact a moderator to temporarily ban the spammers.

5) Tell us about one of your best moments on IrrationalMC
My best moments on irrationalMC would have to be the SSundee tournament. A little while back we held a SSundee tournament on the server, it was the time where we reached the highest players on at once point in time. We gained over 35 total members that day and peaked at 23 members on at one given time. We held multiple awesome minigames for the tournament and in the end, the top 6 players dueled. And the last player alive won the champion lit role on SSundees discord server (Which I Moderate). Overall, it was a great day, and I must admit, I think i pissed myself a bit when I saw the player count raise, instantly contacted my friend who came on to spectate the tournament.

6) Tell us about a time you made a mistake within the last year? How did you deal with it? What did you learn?
Just the other day, we held a court session against one of the moderators. The moderator lost the debate, and as a result, was sentenced to a couple of minutes in jail, had to pay the winner 500 dollars on the server, and was demoted for a day. The staff member out of rage started kicking us, so they were banned for 90 days. What I regret, is banning them from all my discord servers, and leaving their guild. Not only did I leave their guild, but I tried to grief it. It didn't work out, as nobody I knew had permissions to kick his guild members. I then blocked him and had everyone else block them as well. I still feel guilty. However I know it will be resolved soon enough once they calm down and move on from the situation, and when their ban ends in 3 months. What did I learn? Never grief someone, or try to betray them as revenge, or out of anger, as it is simply destroyer a friendship which could have been replenished so much easier.

7) If you have any, what hobbies or activities are you involved in outside of Minecraft?
I am a swimmer, a big-time swimmer. One of my biggest goals is to become a lifeguard. Swimming was always my passion and I have competed in many competitions. I have multiple first and second place rewards and have never scored lower than seconds place. I used to be a Royale Canadian Air Cadet, but due to COVID-10, it's closed, as it includes a group of 90 cadets in once building. I also do expect to be dropping out of cadets very soon, as its no longer to my interest. Bein gin air cadets, however, have put me in a leadership position which I believe will help me as a Helper on the server. Other than that, discord and Minecraft are my hobbies.

8 ) Do you have any previous server moderation or leadership experience?
If so explain what role you played, what skills/experiences you picked up, and how this will help you in your role as a helper.

Yes. I have had many leadership experiences. I have owned many Minecraft servers in my time, some being Dovecraft, prison mines, and IrrationalMC. I am also a Moderator on SSundees discord (A 14 million subscriber YouTuber) which has put me into many situations where I need to use my skills to assess situations and deal with them properly. The discord server has over 250,000 members, and thousands talking each day. I also own my own discord server with nearly 300 members, I run all operations there, such as moderation, events, applications, etc. As well ad cadets have put me in a leadership position which I explained above. I feel like all these experiences will help me as a Staff member on irrationalMC, as they all help with traits that are used on the server.

9) SCENARIO: "You come home from school/work and have a ton of homework/work to do, you think to yourself I'll just take a 5-minute break before I start and get on Irrational. The next thing you know 2 hours have passed and you've been on the server all that time." Does this scenario sound familiar to you?

No, it does not sound familiar. I prioritize schoolwork over gaming. This means I will not be distracted in the future with any issues regarding grades, as I like to deal with my work and put the effort into it, so, in the long run, I can spend the time I said i can on the server. I like to have stable availability, therefore I have work hours and playtime hours. However, as I said earlier, I do my work from home, therefore I can moderate the forums and discord all day without it getting in the way of my school work.

10) SCENARIO: You're in a busy lobby as a helper, questions are flying at you rapidly, you can just about keep up. You're getting messaged by 2 different players both asking you to get them a moderator for a hacker, someone then pokes you on Discord telling you that there is someone blasting music in their channel. What do you do?

First of all, I'm going to want to calm down and gather information. I'm going to want to take this step by step but deal with it swiftly. First, ill tell the members who need a moderator that they can report cheaters with /report <player> <reason> or report them on the forums. As a Helper, I do not moderate, I help, so giving them this information is the best I can do for them. Instead of contacting a moderator, the mods can look at the reports in their own time.
Next, I will join the voice channel where music is being played, and move discord to my second monitor so I can see who is playing music while also seeing the Minecraft chat. While answering questions, ill handle both situations while typing in chat, and warning the person in VC verbally with my microphone. If the person in VC continues, ill get someone with perms to mute the user.

11) Have you made any previous applications, if so how many and what is the date of your last one?
I have not applied for any staff position on this server. This is the first.

12) Anything else we should know?
Being a staff member on a Minecraft server is my overall dream, and it has been something I have been trying to work towards since 2015 when my journey began. I believe my skills will help me significantly at being a staff member, and for that, I should be accepted over other applicants. I look forward to seeing your reply and I sincerely hope you will consider my application, and I thank you for taking the time and effort out of your day to review this application. Feel free to contact me on discord (Dubba#2020) or of course the forums here. Regardless of if I'm accepted or not, i am excited to be an active member of the community and wish to see you online sometime. And without further due, have a great rest of your day or night!

THIS THREAD IS AN EXAMPLE. ANYBODY FOUND COPYING ANSWERS FROM THIS THREAD WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT DENIAL

These questions are OPINION BASED and will vary completely depending on the person writing the application. This is what I PERSONALLY would write if I were applying for the staff here on the server.
