Beta Lobby / [GUIDE] How it Works
« on: June 02, 2020, 08:34:49 pm »
Welcome to the beta lobby!

Hey there! Welcome to the beta lobby. Here you can see our games which we are trying out to see if the community likes them. They may not be fully functional yet, and are always open to suggestions and improvements. That's where this page on the forums comes in.

We want our community to have a large say in what games are added, which are removed, and what is added to the games. The beta lobby is the place to do all those things. In this page on the forums, you will see threads with the tag [GAME]. Each thread with that tag means its a game in the beta lobby that you can play, and inevitably decide its fate.

Threads with logos that look like pieces of paper show that the poll is still open to voting. If it shows an exclamation mark, then the poll is closed, and a decision has been made. When you click a thread which is open for voting, read the description and then make a choice (Make sure you have played the game enough to make a choice). The poll is located above the description at the top of the thread. Once you vote, you can see the results.

Typically, a decision is made at 3 votes (First option to 3 votes), but can take more or less depending on the Admins thoughts, opinions, ideas, and amount the game is played.

If you have suggestions for games, or the beta lobby in general, please visit this suggestions thread, or the suggestions channel on the discord:

The main objective of this game is to either protect the obsidian as the knights, or destroy the obsidian as the raiders. Other objectives are required to make it to the obsidian. These objectives are colour coded. GREEN objectives are for the raiders, GOLD objectives are for the guards, and RED objectives are for both teams!

Apply for staff / [GUIDE] Helper Example

1) Basic Information -

Minecraft Username:
My current Minecraft username is LmaoYes. I have changed my name many times in the past. I like to get a lot of variety, and quickly get bored. I change my Minecraft skin a lot as well, along with my discord profile picture. Something about changing is fun.

Previous Minecraft usernames:
My previous Minecraft names here are listed from newest to oldest, with "Lmaoyes" being my current name: LmaoYes, NotAright, rdv5, ilyDubba, CqntResist, GamingSpyder80, FBI_1125. The name FBI_1125 was my first Minecraft username. Looking back at it originally I wished I had made into something much more "OG" seeing as it was years ago, and many names were open back then compared to now. However, I am happy with where I ended up, as I most likely would have changed it anyways.

I am currently living in Canada. My timezone is MST (Mountain Standard Time). However, my timezone will be changing when I move to the Netherlands. I'll explain this more later on.

Age (Note: You must be 13 or over to apply):
I am currently 16 years of age. I find myself to be more mature than most and have been put into leadership positions many times in my life. I have been a cadet and owned many Minecraft server. I'll get more in-depth on my past history with moderation later on in the application. When I was younger, I dreamed and fantasized over being staff on a Minecraft server. I still hold those dreams closely, and still want to achieve them. I hope to become a staff member here to check that off the bucket list. I used dream of being a Helper on the Hypixel Network and I must admit, I was disappointed about needing to be 16 to apply, as I believe my maturity would be more than enough to become staff on their server but would be more than honored to put all my efforts that could be spent on the largest server in Minecraft on this warm and welcoming community.

Do you have access to Discord and a working microphone? (yes/no)
Yes, I do have access to discord. I use discord daily and all day. I have owned multiple fairly successful discord servers in my time as well as own my current and biggest discord server "Phantom Velocity" which is currently my larges and most active server. We hold many calls and cool events there. I have made staff applications and lead the staff team on that server counting to moderation experience. And yes, I do have a working microphone. To hear what it sounds like feel free to visit my YouTube channel and check out the latest videos where I use it.

Do you have the ability to record Minecraft videos?
Yes, I do. I use the bandicam screen recorder. And I have the premium edition, meaning my videos don't need to deal with any watermarks or time limits seeing as its premium. I record fairly high-quality videos on my YouTube channel which you can see by going to "NotAright" on YouTube or clicking the YouTube icon under my profile picture on the forums. Therefore, I do believe I have more than high enough quality of recording software to record evidence videos for the higher staff members on the server. I would also love to make some YouTube videos on the server for my channel. And should I be denied, I still would love to make videos on the server with a group of friends. Maybe even apply for YouTube once my channel meets requirements.

Are you multilingual? (Fluent in multiple languages. Not just learning one.)
Unfortunately not. However, I will be able to speak fluent Dutch soon, as I will be moving to the Netherlands. I used to speak French, however, that was years ago, since then I have moved back to an English school, and lost that trait. I will be moving back to the Netherlands to comfort and help my grandma, as she is getting very old. My grandpa died years ago, and since then my grandma has been alone, with only a couple of assistants to help her accomplish daily tasks. But at the moment, I only speak English.

2) How much time do you have to contribute to the role?
I get on Minecraft itself at 2 PM MST and get off around 10 PM. However, I will be able to be on the forums and discord 12 hours a day as a result of mobile devices (Neat right). I carry my phone with me all day and do work/school from home, therefore I can use my PC during work/school hours to work on the forums and help any members in need. My school hours last from the time I wake up (Commonly 10-11 AM) and end at 2 PM (When I get on Minecraft). During the weekends I have until I wake up to the time I sleep (Commonly 12 PM) to play the game and monitor the forums. On Wednesdays, i have one hour less of play-time due to hobbies (swimming). In conclusion, I have 8 hours of playtime during the week, with 12 hours of discord and forum activity time, and 12 hours during the weekend excluding family time and breaks which don't last long and arent set times (They vary)

3) Have you ever been banned or punished on any server? If so, please include details.
No. I try my best to not be punished on any server. I follow the rules on discord servers, Minecraft servers, and overall just follow any guidelines and restrictions placed. I work my best to enforce them regardless of rank and help report any issues to staff any time I can. I have been punished once years ago on Hypixel however. It was a warning for being rude in chat (Not a ban or mute, simply a warning). It was the worst punishment I have ever received, and I had truly felt terrible. Since then I have not been punished, and have never been banned legitimately on IrrationalMC, and I hope to do my very best to enforce the rules place on the server, discord, and forums.

4) SCENARIO: Suppose it's your first week of being a Helper and you mute a well-known player. Their friends start spamming your discord DMs calling you a bad Helper and telling you to unmute them. What would you do?
Unfortunately, regardless of who is punished, the rules still need to be enforced. The first thing I would do is assess the situation. I would check the punished player's history to make sure they have received the correct punishment they deserved. Then I would inform the members who are spamming be that no matter the player, the rules are rules, and cannot/will not change because someone is asking for a difference. Should the players continue to spam me, I would warn them and block them, followed by a warning on the server. if they continued spamming not eh Minecraft server to avoid my block, I would mute them, and direct them to the forums/appeals section in-case they felt the punishment was not just. Should they evade the mute, or continue afterward, I would contact a moderator to temporarily ban the spammers.

5) Tell us about one of your best moments on IrrationalMC
My best moments on irrationalMC would have to be the SSundee tournament. A little while back we held a SSundee tournament on the server, it was the time where we reached the highest players on at once point in time. We gained over 35 total members that day and peaked at 23 members on at one given time. We held multiple awesome minigames for the tournament and in the end, the top 6 players dueled. And the last player alive won the champion lit role on SSundees discord server (Which I Moderate). Overall, it was a great day, and I must admit, I think i pissed myself a bit when I saw the player count raise, instantly contacted my friend who came on to spectate the tournament.

6) Tell us about a time you made a mistake within the last year? How did you deal with it? What did you learn?
Just the other day, we held a court session against one of the moderators. The moderator lost the debate, and as a result, was sentenced to a couple of minutes in jail, had to pay the winner 500 dollars on the server, and was demoted for a day. The staff member out of rage started kicking us, so they were banned for 90 days. What I regret, is banning them from all my discord servers, and leaving their guild. Not only did I leave their guild, but I tried to grief it. It didn't work out, as nobody I knew had permissions to kick his guild members. I then blocked him and had everyone else block them as well. I still feel guilty. However I know it will be resolved soon enough once they calm down and move on from the situation, and when their ban ends in 3 months. What did I learn? Never grief someone, or try to betray them as revenge, or out of anger, as it is simply destroyer a friendship which could have been replenished so much easier.

7) If you have any, what hobbies or activities are you involved in outside of Minecraft?
I am a swimmer, a big-time swimmer. One of my biggest goals is to become a lifeguard. Swimming was always my passion and I have competed in many competitions. I have multiple first and second place rewards and have never scored lower than seconds place. I used to be a Royale Canadian Air Cadet, but due to COVID-10, it's closed, as it includes a group of 90 cadets in once building. I also do expect to be dropping out of cadets very soon, as its no longer to my interest. Bein gin air cadets, however, have put me in a leadership position which I believe will help me as a Helper on the server. Other than that, discord and Minecraft are my hobbies.

8 ) Do you have any previous server moderation or leadership experience?
If so explain what role you played, what skills/experiences you picked up, and how this will help you in your role as a helper.

Yes. I have had many leadership experiences. I have owned many Minecraft servers in my time, some being Dovecraft, prison mines, and IrrationalMC. I am also a Moderator on SSundees discord (A 14 million subscriber YouTuber) which has put me into many situations where I need to use my skills to assess situations and deal with them properly. The discord server has over 250,000 members, and thousands talking each day. I also own my own discord server with nearly 300 members, I run all operations there, such as moderation, events, applications, etc. As well ad cadets have put me in a leadership position which I explained above. I feel like all these experiences will help me as a Staff member on irrationalMC, as they all help with traits that are used on the server.

9) SCENARIO: "You come home from school/work and have a ton of homework/work to do, you think to yourself I'll just take a 5-minute break before I start and get on Irrational. The next thing you know 2 hours have passed and you've been on the server all that time." Does this scenario sound familiar to you?

No, it does not sound familiar. I prioritize schoolwork over gaming. This means I will not be distracted in the future with any issues regarding grades, as I like to deal with my work and put the effort into it, so, in the long run, I can spend the time I said i can on the server. I like to have stable availability, therefore I have work hours and playtime hours. However, as I said earlier, I do my work from home, therefore I can moderate the forums and discord all day without it getting in the way of my school work.

10) SCENARIO: You're in a busy lobby as a helper, questions are flying at you rapidly, you can just about keep up. You're getting messaged by 2 different players both asking you to get them a moderator for a hacker, someone then pokes you on Discord telling you that there is someone blasting music in their channel. What do you do?

First of all, I'm going to want to calm down and gather information. I'm going to want to take this step by step but deal with it swiftly. First, ill tell the members who need a moderator that they can report cheaters with /report <player> <reason> or report them on the forums. As a Helper, I do not moderate, I help, so giving them this information is the best I can do for them. Instead of contacting a moderator, the mods can look at the reports in their own time.
Next, I will join the voice channel where music is being played, and move discord to my second monitor so I can see who is playing music while also seeing the Minecraft chat. While answering questions, ill handle both situations while typing in chat, and warning the person in VC verbally with my microphone. If the person in VC continues, ill get someone with perms to mute the user.

11) Have you made any previous applications, if so how many and what is the date of your last one?
I have not applied for any staff position on this server. This is the first.

12) Anything else we should know?
Being a staff member on a Minecraft server is my overall dream, and it has been something I have been trying to work towards since 2015 when my journey began. I believe my skills will help me significantly at being a staff member, and for that, I should be accepted over other applicants. I look forward to seeing your reply and I sincerely hope you will consider my application, and I thank you for taking the time and effort out of your day to review this application. Feel free to contact me on discord (Dubba#2020) or of course the forums here. Regardless of if I'm accepted or not, i am excited to be an active member of the community and wish to see you online sometime. And without further due, have a great rest of your day or night!

Ban Appeal / [GUIDE] Ban Reasons
« on: May 13, 2020, 03:16:25 pm »

For information on appealing bans, or any HAWK CHEAT DETECTION bans, please read this thread: as this thread will be regarding MANUAL punishments.

Ban message must include MANUAL - <reason> | or not include HAWK CHEAT DETECTION as well as must be a ban. This thread does not cover mutes.

1. General Offences
The general offences ban will last 90 days on the first offence and be permanent on the second offence. General Offences cover anything from Griefing, team killing, cross-teaming, trolling, exploiting, etc.

2. Client Modifications
The client modifications ban will vary depending on severity and offence. The first offence can be 1 day for minor offences, and 1 week for a first offence on average. The second offence will result in a 1-month ban. You can only appeal first offence client modification bans. If you need to be banned multiple times for client modifications then you haven't learned your lesson.
Client modifications are any modification which gives you an advantage in-game and against other players. This includes hacked clients, auto clickers, macros, flight without permission, etc

3. Severe Offence / Max Violations
This ban can be triggered if you have 4 or more of a specific punishment (3 mutes or 3 bans before). This is normally on the fourth ban and has a permanent duration. It can also be triggered for severe offences such as getting friends on to all grief the server or doing any damage which cant be reversed.

4. Ban Evasion / Compromised Account
This ban is triggered when you use another account to get around a ban. Nobody except for you can use your account. If a banned player is using another account to play on the server, it is ban evasion and will result in an IP ban which has a permanent duration. As for compromised account, this is if we suspect your account to be insecure, or have been hacked/compromised. In this case, if you secure your account, just make an appeal explaining how you secured your account and we'll consider unbanning you.

******Why was I punished?******

If you were punished, either muted or banned, it is because you broke one of our server rules. We have a variety of different server rules, and because of this your punishment can vary depending on what rule you broke. You can find information regarding your punishment in the posts located below.

Next Section: Anti Cheat Punishments

Why was I banned by Hawk?

If hawk banned you, your ban message will include: [HAWK CHEAT DETECTION]

You were monitored, caught, and confirmed to be in one or more of the following categories:
Actively cheating by using one or more blacklisted modifications.
Previously used one or more blacklisted modifications which have outstanding effects on your Minecraft folder.
Using one or more disallowed modifications such as but not limited to TCP edit, Better Sprint, or macros.
Make sure to read the rules with /rules on the server or in the discord to help prevent further punishment.

Next Section: Can I appeal a Hawk ban?

How can I appeal an anti-cheat ban by Hawk?

In order to appeal a Hawk ban, follow the instructions to appeal any other ban which can be found at the bottom of the thread.

General Conversation / Collapse - removed
« on: May 06, 2020, 06:01:33 pm »
Collapse has been removed as a minigame on IrrationalMC due to issues with the maps. Most likely caused by degeneration and regeneration of the map.

Unfortunately, we don't believe the game will be seen again on the server. IrrationalMC now only has one singleplayer game which is parkour. We still, of course, have the box, which isn't classified as a minigame. If you have any ideas for solo minigames, please let us know either on the discord or in the suggestions section of the forums.

How do I apply for Moderator?
You cannot apply for Moderator on the forums. All members of staff begin as Helpers and Moderators are chosen from within the Helper group.

How do I apply for Admin?
Pretty simple, you don't.

How do I apply for Youtube?
You can apply for YouTube here:

What happens after I post an application? How long does it take to get a response?
After your application has been posted it is looked at by a member of the Applications Team. Once it has been reviewed it will be locked and you will receive a reply message on the forums letting you know whether you have been successful or not in your application.

We try our best to respond to applications within 2-3 days. Depending on how busy we are and how many application we have received, it may take up to a week before you receive a response.

I posted an application, but I havenít received a reply?
Please give the Applications Team 7 days to respond to your application. If more than 7 days have passed and you have not received a reply, then please private message rdv5 on discord, the forums, or get his attention on the server.

If I apply and get denied, when can I reapply?
You will be told in your denial message when you can re-apply, this is normally 1 week after you posted your latest application. Please note if you apply before this you will be instantly denied and made to wait two weeks instead of one.

I have been banned/muted before, will that hurt my chances of getting Helper?
Your reputation on the server will have an impact on your application. As a Helper you are put in a position of authority on the server. We have found that Helpers that have quite a negative reputation on the server struggle a lot more with situational handling because of the backlash they get from the community.

That being said we donít instantly deny people for having infractions on the server if they are honest and can prove that they have matured since then. We background check all applicants and if you fail to tell us about infractions on the server it could mean instant denial.

Do I need to be active on the forums to be able to apply?
The short answer is no. It is recommended that you are aware of how our forums work. However we are aware that every person has their own version of activity on the server. For some it is on the forums and for others it is in game.

Can I get a rank without having 50/100 subscribers?
While we can't consider all channels on YouTube for a rank, if your channel is gaming related and you have more than 25 subscribers we can consider your channel for a rank. Please see the

I saw a player with YT with less than 50/100 subscribers! Why?!
Please note that YouTube channels are only one of the factors that we take into consideration when giving the YT rank to users. Some users may have been given the YT rank based on other sources, such their channel on a streaming site such as Twitch or Beam. In some exceedingly rare cases, we may also choose to give a rank to users for other reasons, but these are at our discretion and are not applied for.

Am I guaranteed a rank if I meet the requirements?
Simply put, no. All applications are considered on a case by case basis, and we may decline to give a rank in specific cases for any reason. That said, in most cases, we will be able to give some rank if you meet the requirements provided there are no concerns about your channel or the practices it is supporting.
